PERSONAL TRAINING FOR FITNESS AND TONING in Milton Keynes
People tell me that I’m a different sort of Personal Trainer. I like that of course, because in all honesty, no-one wants to be considered average do they? I believe it’s said because I always strive to understand the people that I work with... the individual, the person.
The reality is, we’re going to spend a minimum of 12 weeks, with one session per week doing 1-2-1 fitness training together. I need to get to know you to find out your wants and needs of course, but more importantly to discover who and what you really are. As human animals we are all the same in many ways, however, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity and general health, no two people respond the same to physical stress, emotional influences, exercise or even the food they eat. It’s important for me to understand what makes you tick, your dreams and aspirations, what your motivators are, and what turns your stomach!
Your tailored Programme for Success involves 12 weeks of progressive exercise starting at the level you are at now, leading to where you want to be, so that you look good, feel great and perform even better. Training sessions are conducted at your home and/or outdoors – it’s your choice (weather dependant of course) – and at your convenience.

Together we will:
talk about your wants and needs and set some goals
assess your current fitness level and discover what exercise works best for you
get you started with a healthy exercise habit, appropriate to your fitness level and goals
measure your results and your progress on an ongoing basis, and adapt your training (if necessary) to keep you on track.
I will provide you with the Accountability, Inspiration and Motivation that you need, as well as practical friendly advice and a positive outlook. Everything you need to succeed!
THE HEAT PROGRAMME
It all starts with a conversation at home, or if you prefer, a relaxed walk in the park. During that time we will discuss what exactly you want to achieve, how soon you need to start and finish, who or what will help or hinder your efforts, and how much you are able to and are prepared to invest, in terms of your time, money and energy. There are some forms to fill in which will help to focus your thoughts, but mostly, it’s a chat all about you, your likes, your dislikes, and your priorities.
I will invariably suggest some changes that you could make immediately with regards to your diet, and even show you two or three suitable exercises that you can do on your own right away. While all that is happening of course, you have a chance to decide if I am the right person to work with you?
Usually as part of your home consultation, I will ask you to stand on my special scales for a very simple and non-invasive set of measurements. The data collected comprises of height, weight and age, current activity levels, BMI, body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone mass, hydration levels, visceral fat readings, and metabolic age.
These results provide us with a snapshot of your current physical health – a ‘baseline check’ which is a starting point for later comparison, which we can use to monitor, test and measure your progress throughout your programme.
If it is appropriate to your needs, we can arrange further checks to include blood sugars and lipid tests, intollerence testing and even DNA tests.
PROGRAMME FOR SUCCESS
During your Home Consultation, I will show you some exercises appropriate to your needs so that you can start getting into the exercise habit. We will also decide upon some small changes that you are ready, willing and able to make, in your eating habits.
Each week when I see you, usually at least once a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. We start with exercises that suit your abilities and goals and progress each week, adding variety, duration and intensity.
In addition, each week, if it helps you, I will give you a written programme to follow for each day of the week, detailing the exercise and dietary changes that we have agreed upon.
Progressive exercise means we start at a suitable level for you, where you know you’ve had a work out, but it’s manageable and you are thinking “actually I can do this”. With each session (usually over 12 weeks) we’ll add a little more intensity and maybe, a little more time spent.
In terms of cardio, exercises may include walking, nordic walking, jogging, running or cycling – no exercise machines required... all the real thing.
For strength and endurance you’ll be doing free-weights (standing or with the Swiss ball), abs exercises (on the mat or the Swiss ball), circuits, interval training and body weight exercises such as benches (my favorite), and a heap of plyometric exercises. We’ll even have a good go at some High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) when you are ready!
Fitness Training is mostly about improving your fitness, but looking at the bigger picture, we should also be considering how you’re fuelling your body – particularly if you have a little weight to lose... let’s call it toning!
Most of us would like to re-shape some part of our bodies a little, whether it’s tightening up bingo wings, shedding a muffin top or firming up man-boobs.
Truth be told, exercise alone may not do it all, but some simple dietary changes might help. Don’t worry I won’t try to sell you any lotions, potions or pills, but some of our conversations during training may be focused on what changes could be made to what, how, and even when you eat (and drink).
